TSUTSUMI HOANG
From attending the Oslo/Fusion Festival dressed in a look by ESP Oslo, one of her favorite local, sustainable fashion brands, to traveling by bike and avoiding washing her clothes too often, rising style influencer and content creator Tsutsumi Hoang – aka @xoxotsumi – recently made a life change decision to "live and act more consciously and responsibly." The Future Rocks approves. Born in Oslo, Norway, and of Vietnamese origin, the freckled beauty is the co-founder and creative editor-in-chief of the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle website Day By Tsu. Known for her minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic, she is also the face of L'Oreal Colorista and is part of the official Dior Nordic Squad. As fans of her killer style (see her Instagram post themed around styling the perfect fall blazer in three different ways), we'll follow Hoang on her journey to making better choices.
AURORA JAMES
#GoodTrouble is here: Aurora James is the fearless force behind one of the fastest-growing non-profit organizations in the United States. Her charity, the 15 Percent Pledge, asks major retailers to pledge 15% of shelf space to Black-owned businesses.
A Toronto native, the New York-based James ranks #43 on Fortune magazine’s 2021 World’s 50 Greatest Leaders list and appeared on a cover for the September 2020 “Hope” special issue of American Vogue themed on “Voices on the Future of Fashion.” She is the founder and creative director for Brother Vellies, a sustainable luxury accessories brand. She is also a crusader for artisanship, design, and humanitarianism. The cult label, which counts Beyoncé, Rihanna, Serena Williams, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry among its fans, was born on a mission to preserve African design practices and techniques while sustaining and creating artisanal jobs. Catch James’ take on “What it means to be ‘Classic’ and ‘American’” on Instagram and follow her latest achievements, including an upcoming memoir.
REBECCA CORBIN-MURRAY
An advocate of “buy less, buy better,” based on pieces made to last over trend-driven styles, Corbin-Murray, whose celebrity clientele also includes Lily James, Florence Pugh, and Jenna Coleman, is also the founder of @the.ecoiste, an Instagram account that highlights one-of-a-kind brands and products produced mindfully — an approach that naturally dovetails with The Future Rocks’ community of innovative jewelry designers.
ANNE-LAURE MAIS
Hailed as “the new Parisienne to know” by French Vogue, Anne-Laure Mais – aka Adenorah – is the brains behind the sustainable fashion label Musier Paris. Part of a new generation of French influencers who are converting their je ne sais quoi aesthetic into buzzy fashion lines, she advocates for pre-owned vintage pieces, with a direction channeling the effortlessness of French New Wave heroines like Jean Seberg and Brigitte Bardot and surf culture, a nod to Mais’ roots in Biarritz. Blending femininity, comfort, and a retro vibe, the brand’s collections focus on limited edition, quality pieces produced locally to limit carbon footprint that “are designed to be worn and re-worn tirelessly without falling out of fashion.”
